If you want to build in your backyard, then, when you follow the rules, the concept of built-up area comes to the fore. You need to know how big your building area is, in order to know how much you can build in your backyard area. We explain here simply how you can determine the built-up area near your house.

First of all, you need to establish the backyard area. We explain how to do this in this blog .

Once you have calculated the backyard area , you can calculate the built-up area.
‘The development area is backyard area plus the land under the main building and added extensions and expansion bujildings, minus the land under the original main building’. Simplified: Basically that is your entire plot size minus 1 x the width of your house. If your house, including the outer walls, is 6 meters wide and your house is located on a total plot of 100m2, then the built-up area (100-6=) is 96m2.
We have now assumed that you have a terraced house. If you have a semi-detached house or a terraced house, you must first determine the backyard area very precisely and then add the ground under the entire house.
