Urban District of The Hague Hout

Urban District of The Hague Hout

North of downtown, the Hague Woods is a stately district. With +/- 42,000 inhabitants, Haagse Hout consists of the following neighborhoods:

  • Mariahoeve and Marlot
  • Bezuidenhout
  • Hague Forest
  • Northwood

The Haagse Bos is by far the largest green area with the Paleis Huis ten Bosch, the residential palace of the King and his family. This elongated urban forest divides Haagse Hout into two parts: Benoordenhout on one side and Bezuidenhout and Mariahoeve and Marlot on the other.

In Benoordenhout, there are quiet child-friendly residential areas with row houses, townhouses, semi-detached and detached houses. Built mostly before World War II.

In Bezuidenhout, on the other hand, there are many cozy streets with stores and restaurants. There are traditionally mostly apartments and maisonettes in terms of housing, and in recent years there has been a fair amount of new construction. In short, a nice little piece of The Hague that is right up against the Center.
