You may be selling a property of someone who has died. Possibly that of your deceased father/mother or another deceased relative. You are required by law (under penalty of a fine) to have an energy label in your possession at the time of sale.

Getting the energy label for a deceased person’s home is how you do it

Step 1: Go to https://mijn.overheid.nl and log in with your DigiD. That looks like this.

Step 2: In the next step, click on “Living. That’s what it looks like.

Step 3: In the next step, click “View energy label. It looks like this.

Step 4: Now you will see the energy label of all the homes to which you are cadastrically linked. That’s what it looks like.
Don’t see the property listed? Then go to > Step 5

Step 5: First, gather evidence that you are the heir to this property. This can be a certificate of inheritance or, for example, a will. Are you not an heir, but are you officially authorized to sell the property on behalf of the heirs or owner? Then be sure to gather evidence of that.

Step 6: Edit this sample email and email it along with the evidence you collected in step 5 to helpdesk@energielabel.nl

Step 7: Log into ‘My Government‘ again in 1 or 2 weeks and start again at Step 1. See if the energy label is now among them. The energy label may also have been or will be sent to you by mail.

Good luck and lots of strength!
