Environmental Services

There are 29 environmental services in the Netherlands. In short, the environmental services are responsible for supervision, enforcement and licensing for everything related to the Soil Protection Act. You can obtain a soil report (also called an environmental report) from an environmental service. With some environmental services this is free, with others you have to pay for it.

Soil Information System

The environmental services use a so-called “Soil Information System” for short: BIS. That BIS keeps track of all the data known about soil in a given area. This data is mostly provided by soil surveys conducted by companies, agencies or individuals. The software or tool that environmental agencies usually use for this is that of Nazca Solutions. When you order a soil report for a specific address, Nazca’s ‘BIS’ software generates a soil report for you containing all known data of the soil of the requested address with a radius of 25 meters around it.

Advice from environmental consulting and research firm

Are you sitting with an issue on a piece of property. For example, do you want to be sure if the soil is clean and have a historical or exploratory soil survey done? Or do you need advice on reading a soil report? Then ask an environmental research firm for a remote opinion or to conduct an exploratory soil survey on site. As a nationwide real estate agency, we have several good environmental maintenance agencies sitting throughout the country that we work with. If you would like to get in touch with one of these consulting companies in your area, please fill out this form and we’ll put you in touch with them (free service from us).
